Getting started

Your invite, the first fifteen minutes, and what to set up before you quote anything.

narra keeps one record for a piece of work. The quote you send, the job you schedule, the invoice you collect. Setting up well takes about fifteen minutes and removes retyping for the rest of the year.

How do I get an account?

narra is in a private pilot, so there is no public sign-up. Accounts are created from an invite code that arrives with your invitation.

  1. Open the sign-in screen and choose Sign Up.
  2. Enter your business name, your name, your email and a password.
  3. Paste the invite code and select Create workspace.

You can also continue with Google or Apple. Whichever you pick, use the same one every time, see the next answer.

I signed in and my workspace is empty

Almost always you signed in with a different provider than the one you signed up with. One email address can carry two identities. A Google one and an email-and-password one. And to any software those are two different accounts.

Sign out and try the other method. Your records are not gone; you are in the wrong workspace.

If that does not bring them back, email team@narraweb.com before creating anything new, so we are not merging two sets of records later.

What should I set up first?

Three things, in this order. Each removes retyping from everything after it.

  1. Business details: name, address, phone, email. These print on every document a customer sees.
  2. Services and prices: so a line item is picked, not typed, and a price rise lands in one place.
  3. Your team: people need an account before they can be assigned work.

Tax rates, branding and connectors can wait until you need them.

How do I find my way around?

The sidebar is the whole product, grouped by what you are doing.

  • Workspace: Dashboard, Calendar, Jobs, Quotes, Route Planner, Leads. The work itself.
  • Records: Clients, Financials, Payroll. What the work produced.

Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+K) anywhere to search and jump.

How do I add my services and prices?

Settings → Services. Add each thing you sell with its default price. From then on a quote or invoice line is chosen from a list, and the price fills itself.

You can still override a price on any individual line. The catalogue is a default, not a rule.

How do I add my logo and colours?

Settings → Appearance. Upload a brand logo and set your accent. The logo appears on quotes, invoices and the page your customers see.

What is the difference between the desktop app and the phone app?

The desktop app is the office: quoting, scheduling, invoicing, clients, money.

The phone app is the crew: the day’s stops, what the job involves, checklists, photos, notes and time. It works offline.

Same account, same data, different jobs.

Can I try it without touching real customers?

Yes. The demo carries fabricated data and resets on reload, so nothing you do there reaches anyone. It is clearly labelled at the foot of the screen so it can never be mistaken for your own workspace.

How do I invite someone to my team?

Settings → Team → Add member. They get their own sign-in. Assign them a role at the same time. A crew member sees only their own work.

Where do I set my service area?

Settings → Towns. Adding the towns you serve makes them selectable rather than typed, which keeps a client’s address consistent across quotes, jobs and routes.

Does narra work on a tablet?

Yes. The desktop app is responsive and works on a tablet browser. The phone app is built for a phone in one hand and is the better choice on site.

What happens to my data if I stop using narra?

Export what you want from each list as CSV while your account is active, then email us to have the workspace deleted. See Deleting your data.
